Yesterday Jacob turned 15 months. He is three months away from being 1 1/2 years old. Crazy!
We do 3 month well baby check ups until 18 months and as Jacob gained more mobility the appointments got more and more difficult. Today was no different, he drops down to nothing but a diaper during his check in and as we wait for the doctor I normally hold him, but that was not on his agenda today. Instead he walked around the little room, explored every cabinet and drawer, tried to move the exam table by pulling levers, moved the trash can around, and yanked at the paper covering for the exam table. Who knew there was so much to explore in such a tiny room.
All is good and he's developing well except for seasonal allergies and eczema which he now has a prescription for. His weight is in the 25th percentile (which is what he's been trending at), height right above the 50th, and the head has taken a giant leap and is now in the 97th percentile. She's not worried about that because it is easy to get different readings on that when there are different nurses taking measurements. Still a shock on the paper.
At the beginning of the appointment she said how big he's gotten and started to say he looked different, but stopped short. Then at the end, after I said last question about 10 times, she realized his hair is lighter. We discussed for a bit and she said she hasn't had any patients that have changed their hair color at this point, but she did know friends that have gone from dark to blonde. Guess we'll just have to wait and see if it ever darkens up instead of continuing to get lighter and lighter.
Lastly, we're going to be getting rid of the paci. I brought it up for tips to start getting rid of it and she was ready for me to throw them all out now. I know for sure I want to wait til after we go on our trip this summer, but we're ready to start getting rid of it. There was a pediatrician on The Doctors about a month ago who said he was a strong advocate about getting rid of the pacifier until he had a kid and then realized there was some room for when to lose it.
Oh! I was worried that maybe he was behind in his words, but she said that he should only have a couple that he can say and with; uhoh, mama, dada, ball, (and the newest) hi, he is doing amazingly well. She was also impressed he knows where his nose and bellybutton are.
2 shots later we scheduled our next appointment for October.
